چکیده

The creation and manipulation of conceptual shapes need different modeling techniques from what are available in present CAD systems. Conceptual modeling techniques are supposed to provide more flexible interaction and mimic working with true materials. Therefore, this paper proposes a new computer internal modeling technique that supports the natural ways of exteriorizing shape concepts as well as their sophisticated geometric representation. The vague shape model consists of three aspect models, the particle system, the physical coupling, and the singularity network models. The discrete particle system model is composed from point sets that are generated with highly interactive input devices. The volumetric and physical manipulations can be applied to the particle clouds. A particle system model is a domain-oriented representation of a cluster of shape instances. To make behavioral simulation possible, physical couplings such as springs and dampers are specified among the particles. The discrete particle system representation can also be converted into continuous surface models based on the extraction of the shape singularities and natural surfaces.

Modeling fuzzy information in UML class diagrams and object-oriented database models

Conceptual data modeling has become essential for non-traditional application areas. Some conceptual data models have been proposed as tools for database design and object-oriented database modeling. Information in real-world applications is often vague or ambiguous. Currently, a little research is underway on modeling the imprecision and uncertainty in conceptual data modeling and the conceptu...

Testing Database of Information System using Conceptual Modeling

This paper focuses on testing database of existing information system. At the beginning we describe the basic problems of implemented databases, such as data redundancy, poor design of database logical structure or inappropriate data types in columns of database tables. These problems are often the result of incorrect understanding of the primary requirements for a database of an information sy...

Nucleus-based Product Conceptualization – Part 1: Principles and Formalization

Focusing on computer support of conceptual design, the paper introduces the nucleus concept as a vehicle for the development of a novel modeling front-end that can be transitively integrated with commercial CAD systems as well as to extend the functional profile of these systems. The nucleus-based modeling focuses on the relations between the function carriers, rather than on their formation an...

Verbal Interface for Vague Discrete Shape Modeler

Due to the nature of the involved human thinking and creative actions, product conceptualization necessitates the ability of handling incompleteness, vagueness, and frequent changes in the models. The user interfaces and modeling schemes of recent CAD systems are typically not able to cope with this kind of information. Verbalism, as the primary communication mode of human beings, is adapted to...

Conceptual Modeling in Fuzzy Object-oriented Databases Using Unified Modeling Language

In real applications, information is often imprecise and vague. Exact information has become an essential part of modern database applications for making next generation information systems more human friendly. Fuzzy techniques have been widely used to represent such vague information in various database models and theories. Because of the efficiency of object oriented databases in handling com...
